How To Frame A Puzzle
Puzzles are definitely having a moment. Spending more time at home has us all looking for ways to occupy our minds and relieve stress - add major bonus points if you can achieve both of those things sans technology. And there’s not a whole lot more satisfying than finding that final puzzle piece and completing your masterpiece.
Below, come on the puzzle framing journey with us to see how we turned a whole lot of zebras into one beautiful piece.
First things first - you need to complete the puzzle! Make sure you’re working on a firm, even surface as in order to get it frame-ready, you’ll need to do a few things once it’s complete.
We chose what may be the hardest puzzle in the history of mankind. Comprised of many, many zebras this monochromatic puzzle offered no shortcuts or easy solutions to piece it all together. Fun fact: it took our team (working together!) four full days to create our zebra masterpiece. You might think we never wanted to see a zebra again, but instead we want to frame and hang these beasts and bask in our amazing accomplishment.
Now comes the fun part. In order to get your puzzle frame-ready, you’ll want to glue it at home so it’s easier to transport. Another fun fact: we once had a customer bring their puzzle into our Lincoln Park showroom to be framed unglued. While she was carrying it down Clybourn Avenue, a gust of wind swept it away and scattered it throughout the street. (Don’t worry, we found all the pieces and fixed it like heroes!)
Mod Podge is a glue favorite of ours, but there’s many you can choose from (check out more options here). The most important thing is that the glue dries clear. Have questions or want to make sure you’re doing it right? Just drop us a line.
Your puzzle is finished. It’s glued. And you’re in one of our three locations ready to frame.
We chose a double frame combo in a black wood grain with a white accent to keep the black and white motif going. And we definitely earned our stripes putting this one together!
Going puzzle crazy at home? Find that final piece, get it glued down and then come on in to really complete the puzzle.
