Eye-Catching Framing: Summer Windows on Clybourn

We often use the framing we do for our front window displays to push the limits and stoke our creative framing juices. Our goal is always to highlight the marriage of beautiful art and framing in an eye-catching way that speaks to the moment.

This summer, like so many others, we’re so excited for movement, motion and the world to finally be “in bloom” again. That’s why we selected this colorful piece by Bianca Green and framed it with some unique, celebratory-feeling touches.

In Bloom

We followed the motif of the artwork and really let that inspire the framing and overall design, including the myriad of crepe paper flowers built around it. And though this is a bolder look than most would want for say, their living room, it’s a reminder that what surrounds the frame can be just as impactful as the piece itself.

Unique Touches

Because we were going for eye-catching impact here, we added a unique artistic touch of painting the chevron stripe motif from the art onto the frame itself to carry it through. And while you wouldn’t necessarily do this with fine art or an original piece, it’s a reminder that framing is an expression of creativity and there are plenty of options to let loose and have a little fun.

Finding That Perfect Frame

For this piece, we went with a natural oak veneer frame (from our value wall no less!) for something chunky and bold. We took it up a notch by adding a double mat and a stacked frame on the inside in a hot pink color to mirror the vibrancy of the flowers.
