Meet Our Lincoln Park Framers
-
Hiram | Framing Consultant
An early devotee of charcoal and colored pencils, Hiram spent hours as a youngster sharpening his art-making skills drawing cartoon and comic book characters like Spider Man and the Peanuts gang.
More recently, after a survey of various printmaking methods, he discovered his favorite way of art making - the mezzotint - which he has been patiently perfecting for the past ten years.
Hiram is also a sporting gentleman. Down time is spent pursuing a passion for bowling. He’s very modest, but bring your art to him for framing and he’ll bowl you a strike.

Dave | Framing Consultant
Dave was born and raised in Iowa but soon after college was drawn to Chicago's 80s art scene. With his Czech heritage, living in Pilsen made Dave feel like a true bohemian.
Dave is ever curious and loves to experiment with art that combines a variety of materials and media. He admits to being a PBS and NPR geek and “armchair Renaissance man”.
He has recently discovered joy in making his own preserves, pickles and limoncello. “It’s the Iowa in me coming out, except for the limoncello.”

Becka | Framing Consultant
Becka hails from lovely Long Island, however the accent only slips out every now and then.
After studying both Art and Chemistry at Carnegie Mellon, she was overtaken by a magnetic pull to Chicago.
When not designing great framing, she enjoys caring for her blossoming indoor plant collection and biking about town to ethnic groceries for delicious ingredients for culinary experimentations.
Becka wrote a thesis on the science of color and has dabbled in such varied arts as glassblowing, pickling, welding, crochet and making jerky at home.

Emily | Framing Consultant
Emily grew up in a family of artists in the western suburbs. Raised by an art director/potter and an oil painter, she has dabbled in almost every art form imaginable, but has a soft spot for gouache, watercolor and brush tipped pens.
She studied costume design and theatre at Loyola University Chicago and after freelance designing for a few years, she switched paths to focus on illustration and visual storytelling.
When not framing or creating art, Emily can be found investigating new coffee shops, listening to podcasts, analyzing horror movies, or pampering her cats Vincent and Theo.

Mike | Framing Consultant
Mike comes to us all the way from Chicago’s endlessly thrilling Western Suburbs! Growing up with a twin brother who opted to study accounting, Mike knew it was his duty to be the right-brained sibling and went to study art in the city.
He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the School of the Art Institute, which strengthened his love and appreciation for art, as well as our beautiful city of Chicago.
In his personal art practice he mostly works in illustration and collage, but particularly typography, and considers himself an “amateur calligrapher.” When he’s not making art or relaxing at home with his partner and their two cats, Mike is out on the town enjoying one of Chicago’s world class drag shows.
-
Rosa | Framing Consultant
An alum of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Rosa's background in photography and printmaking started with a love of shooting film and printing in the darkroom in high school. Originally from Evanston, she grew up flexing her creative muscles in all facets of life, from studying Latin, to the history of hip-hop, as well as the philosophy of yoga. She still keeps that creativity fresh with ongoing art classes at Latitude and Lillstreet Art Center and by making zines at home.
Rosa loves framing sentimental pieces with customers, whether they are photographs of special moments or items that hold significance and can preserve a moment in time. In fact, one of her most favorite things she's ever framed is a super realistic pastel portrait of her cat, Claudius, drawn by a friend. It lives in a gold frame, matted with an oval opening and gold painted bevel, and is the star of her living room.

Carla | Showroom Manager
Carla is a native Chicagoan and is proud to have done framing over the years for some of the city’s biggest icons. Feel free to ask her about that time she almost ran into Studs Terkel.. literally.
She has a background in painting, printmaking and photography. Lately her creative pursuits include studying gypsy jazz guitar and gardening. She won’t play for us but she will share her zucchini.
Carla can be found painting in her studio at the Bridgeport Art Center, where her dynamic view of our fair city is a constant inspiration.
-
Jessica | Assistant Showroom Manager
Growing up in both Vermont and Pennsylvania, Jessica always thought her path would involve theatre and acting before the art and design bug struck. A lover of abstract gouache paintings, you can also find her noodling around on procreate and working on her own art, when the stars align.
When she’s not immersed in art and framing, Jessica and her husband relish their own version of a Chicago walking tour – exploring different neighborhoods, parks and restaurants and bars on foot, getting inspired by the sights, sounds and tastes of the city.

Isaac | Showroom Manager
Isaac is a recent convert to the world of custom framing. He's building on a solid foundation after managing for various art supply retailers in the city and beyond.
Besides being fluent in all types of art mediums and traditional art practices, Isaac is a painter, lithographer and general all around dabbler in the arts.
Michigan raised and schooled in Baltimore, Isaac is happiest here in Chicago flipping through bins of 80's punk records and building up his collection of vintage amplifiers.
Meet the friendly folks at our Highland Park and River North locations.
